HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GEORGE!
65th Annual Birthnight Supper and Ball
Hosted by the Neighborhood Friends of Mount Vernon
will be held on
Sunday, 9 February 2012 at 6:15 p.m.
The traditional gala, ‘black tie or military dress' event will take place at the Mount Vernon Inn Complex. Invitations have been mailed to members of Mount Vernon's Neighborhood Friends and a few others who had expressed interest. The event is intended to raise money to support designated projects that help preserve the estate grounds. To attend, one must submit a ‘response form' that accompanies the invitation. Electronic versions of these can be obtained by contacting the Director of Development at Mount Vernon: Mr. F. Anderson Morse, office phone is 703.799.8639, or andymorse@mountvernon.org . The invitation request states an R.s.v.p. by 3 February 2012. However, seating is limited, and prompt action is advisable if interested.
Admission is free to Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens

Purchase of a ticket is not required. However, this ‘Free Day' is Mount Vernon's busiest of the year, and one can expect long lines at various venues on the grounds and at retail shops.

The exhibit explores the life of this enigmatic, creative genius. The exhibition is free and open to the public; it will be on display in the Lawrence F. O'Brien Gallery of the National Archives Building in Washington, DC, through 6 May 2012.

A Conference on the American Revolution
and
Tour of the Yorktown Battlefield,
23-25 March 2012
This impressive conference will be held at the Williamsburg Hospitality House in Williamsburg. On site registration and first presentation starts the evening of Friday [23 March]. Presentations will continue the full day [includes lunch] on Saturday [24 March], and conclude with an evening speaker-dinner program. On Sunday [25 March] there will be buss tour of Yorktown Battlefield [includes lunch]. The conference will include a number of prominent historians on the American Revolution.
